Annapurna Basecamp & Poon Hill Trek

This Annapurna base camp with Poon Hill  trek leads to the fabulous high mountains. The trekking route passes through many varied climatic condition from sub tropical to alpine. Thus inevitably the vegetation changes accordingly giving trekkers a wonderful variety of flora and fauna. You will experience some of the diverse but equally friendly people and ethnic cultures of Nepal. We start the trek with gradually ascend through the beautiful varied landscape of cultivated terraced field and lust forest of oaks, magnolia and rhododendron trees. The early morning hike to Poon hill (3230m) will give you the best possible panoramic sunrise view on whole fabulous Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This hike also allow time of proper acclimatization on the way to Annapurna Sanctuary. The combination of tiny thatch-roofed villages set among the narrow terraced fields with the backdrop of stunning snow-capped mountain ranges makes it is one of the most picturesque treks in the Himalayas.

Itinerary

Day 01:  Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)We will be waiting you at Kathmandu international airport holding a signboard with your full name so that you could recognize us so easily. When you come out, we will take private car to get 3*** hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Shortly you will do check in and get refreshed. Our tour leader Dilip will explain you about the overall glimpse of our full 14 days tour then in evening we will have a fantastic welcome dinner together at one of the Nepalese famous kitchen which introduces you a very unique Nepalese cuisine.

Day 02 :   Kathmandu sightseeing and trek preparationThis is the valley where flourished Buddhism and Hinduism together over the centuries. The ancient architectures of Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples are just spectacular. As this is the capital city of Nepal, people live together  from different walk of life and ethnic communities. After a breakfast, we start our guiding tour to UNESCO heritage sites; Kathmandu Durbar square, Monkey temple and Bouddhanath stupa; the major Buddhist sites. Also if the time permits, we do Pashupatinath temple which is the biggest Hindu holy shrine in this Indian subcontinent.

Day 03 :  Fly to Pokhara and trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m), 30 min flight, 3 hrs trekWe fly to Pokhara early in the morning. As soon as we land in Pokhara we drive to Nayapul (1050m). Poonhill sunrise trek starts from Nayapul. Following Modi River, we will walk past forest of blooming rhododendron and cross small stream. We will cross Birethanti after about half an hour of trek and arrive at Tirkhedhunga.

Day 04 :   Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860m), max 7 hrs trekWe have a steep ascent to get us going and then a more gradual uphill walk takes us to our camp at Ghorepani. We will pass through some delightful villages and the beautiful, dense rhododendron forest so characteristic of Nepal at these altitudes! If the weather is clear we will see stunning mountain views from Ghorepani, making the climb well worth it! At Gorepani, we are on the main Annapurna Circuit route and there are likely to be lots of travelers passing through this ridge-top settlement in both directions. Ghorepani literally means “horse water” and is a popular stopping place for the mule trains which ply the route from Pokhara to Jomsom and beyond.

Day 05 :  Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m) with a visit to Poon Hill (3,210m), max 7 hrs trekWe will have to wake up early in the morning before sunrise to hike up to one of the most beautiful place in the Annapurna region called Poon Hill (3,210m). It will take around 45 to 60 minutes to hike up the hill from Ghorepani. Poon Hill is famous for the best near 360-degree panoramic view of the entire Annapurna region. The sun rays on the horizon, rising up to light up the mountains is a remarkable lifetime event. We will be able to get the spectacular view of the Annapurna South to Bahari Shikhar, Hiuchuli, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri ranges, Tukuche peak, Annapurna I, II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Mt.Manaslu ranges, Fishtail and others mountain range from Poon Hill. After spending some time in Poon Hill, we will return back to Ghorepani for our breakfast and then trek to Tadapani (2,610 m). You will be ascending to Duerali from Ghorepani and then up and down the hills till you reach Tadapani.

Day 06 :  Tadapani to Sinuwa (2,360m), max 7 hrs trekThe plan for the morning includes a short walk for the spectacular scenery of the Annapurna range and Machapuchare, along with the sunup. After submerging into the breathtaking morning view of the mountain trail, your breakfast would be served at 7:00 am, and soon after that, we continue our trek to Sinuwa (2360 m), which takes 7 to 8 hours by walk. Here too, an eco lodge would be made available for for overnight stay.

Day 07:  Sinuwa to Deurali (3,200m), 6 hrs trek2 ½ to 3 hrs easy ascent through the forest of rhododendron,oak and bamboo will take you to Kuldhigar.  There is a clearing in the forest a little further on, from there the route goes very steeply down a bank of rock and then levels out, running through thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge, keeping always on the west side of the river. We pass by the pasture of Tomo, and then the very neck of the gorge at pantheon Barah, where there is a small trail and a shrine.

Day 08 :  Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) via MBC, max 6 hrs trekWe follow the valley trail in a steady climb. The trail sticks to a rocky cliff and is sometimes steep. We walk on a somewhat flat path for a while before ascending to Machhapurchre Base Camp. From here we get excellent views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna mountains. We then turn left and begin ascending gently to the Annapurna Base Camp. During our ascent we can admire spectacular views of the Himalayan panorama. Walking further we reach the base camp of Mt. Annapurna and it is amazing. We are surrounded by magnificent peaks and the only way into this area is through the gorge we just hiked.

Day 09 :   Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310m), max 7 hrs trekWe wake up early in the morning to get the view of  sunrise along with the mountain range. We also hike upwards to get the glimpses of the glassier and surrounding countless mountains, it would be the great experiences to us. After returning back to the lodge, we take breakfast and keep  continue  our trek downhill to Bamboo.

Day 10:   Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m), max 6 hrs trekWe step back down to Chhomrong where we stop for lunch. From Chomrong it is a steep descent down to the Modi Khola valley. The stone steps to Chhomrong are equally tricky as they were before. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will be resting for the night. On the way, we enjoy our walking through rain forests and farms. After reaching Jhinu Danda, we can spend the rest of the afternoon taking a rest and relaxing.

Day 11:  Jhinu Danda to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara, 6 hrs trek, 1 hour driveToday would be last chance to enjoy the beautiful hill landscape of Annapurna mountain region. We climb downhill to cross Kumnu Khola and continue to hike ups and downs to the New Bridge, which takes almost an hour. Modi Khola Valley with cliff view are enjoyable at New Bridge. Walk almost ninety minutes to get to Kyumi and again from Kyumi walk 1:30 hours to get Syauli Bazar. From Syauli Bazar walk two more hours to get to Nayapul. Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek officially ends here at Nayapul. From Nayapul, we will take private car to  Pokhara.

Day 12:   Fly from Pokhara to KathmanduWe fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon or early in the morning. We will have a farewell dinner in the evening.We can spend the day taking the much needed rest or catch up on some last minute shopping.  Our flying to Kathmandu will give us a incredible views of sky touching Himalayas.

Day 13:  Final departure to sweet homeToday your Nepal stay is going to end !  Majestic Himalaya representative will drop you off at the airport approximately 1 hour before your scheduled flight. We wish sweet journey  for your way back to home.
