In the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, New Futures Nepal UK has emerged as a leading donor organization, delivering vital humanitarian aid to the remote communities of Mahakulung, situated on the southern slopes of Mt. Everest.
The organization established the first COVID-19 Food Bank in Bung, from which PPEs, nutritious food, personal hygiene items, thermal guns, and masks have been distributed to those in need, including health workers, health offices, COVID-19 patients, and impoverished porter families.
Last year, New Futures Nepal UK significantly supported Chheskam Secondary School by providing warm winter tracksuits to 1,000 students. This gesture was a considerable relief to students, parents, and the entire school community, easing the challenges of the harsh winter.
In addition, New Futures Nepal UK; donated a 2,000-watt solar battery to the Mahakulung Community Hospital. This donation has been crucial in addressing the frequent power outages that had been affecting the hospital’s operations. Mayor Sagar Kirati praised the initiative, stating, “This type of aid is instrumental in supporting local health workers. We are incredibly grateful to NFN UK for this significant contribution.”
The residents of Mahakulung are profoundly appreciative of New Futures Nepal UK’s efforts, which have played a crucial role in saving lives during the pandemic. The Everest Mera Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to New Futures Nepal for their unwavering support and commitment to the well-being of the Mahakulung community.
